The SMM – Science Team, with the guidance of Sr. Tess and SLT, is proud to introduce a hydroponics unit in the school. Hydroponics is the process of growing plants without using soil.

The installation was done on 22^nd September and offers our students a window to the bigger world solutions.

Hydroponic farming is the latest in agricultural technology. It can make a huge difference in the world’s issues if applied on a larger scale. It saves water, space, and energy, making it better for our planet. Hydroponic food is grown free of pesticides and dangerous chemicals that some traditional farms rely on to preserve the life of their produce. Controlled conditions naturally protect the plants from larger pests, allowing farmers to decrease their reliance on pesticides drastically. Healthy food should be available to everyone, and food production should be sustainable.

Less water use, efficient handling of space, and the benefit of local produce are all major advantages that hydroponics offer.

Students can look forward to having a closer first-hand glimpse of growing food in a controlled environment, and understand how hydroponics offers a sustainable solution to the planet’s issues by using effective farming practices.
